To The One I Wanted To Love But Couldn’t

When I wanted to take lazy strolls and take things as they came,
You wanted to run like we had a plane to catch
You said we will find the balance somehow
Even when I told you it was impossible, a hundred times.

That we tried making each other someone we were not.

I know you loved me,
I know that I would have loved you, too.

But what’s love if the two of us lived in different timelines. Future was all you wanted, future was all you talked about. No matter how many times I told you that I am living in the moment, seize the day kind of girl.

You were as charming as someone can be, dare I say perfect. But I couldn’t give you what you wanted, because that meant changing who I am, changing what I believed in. That meant breaking the promise I made to my younger self after her first heartbreak, to never change herself for anyone.
